Ergonomic design
The Black & Decker chainsaw is ergonomically designed to make it easy and comfortable to use. At just 3.8kg, it is a lightweight chainsaw, so it is easy to transport and manoeuvre, and is also less tiring to use. The battery is positioned on the side of the chainsaw in order to distribute the weight evenly, resulting in a better balanced tool that is more comfortable to use.
The tension of the chain can be quickly and easily adjusted with a tool-free dial that can simply be wound up to tighten the chain, saving you time and energy. The automatic oil system is leak-free, and there is a small window that allows you to see clearly when the oil needs to be refilled. The chainsaw can also lie flat on its side, which allows you to re-fill the oil with ease.
Lithium-Ion battery The chainsaw comes with a 36V Lithium-Ion battery that once charged holds up to 18 months whilst idle. A full battery charge takes just an hour and a half, but as the Lithium Ion batteries have no "memory effect", they don't need to run flat before charging. You can therefore simply top up the charge before using it. The chainsaw also has a state-of-the-charge battery indicator for convenience.
Lithium Ion batteries offer 30% longer runtime compared to comparable units with traditional NiCad or NiMH batteries. This means that the Black & Decker chainsaw offers an average 560 cuts per battery charge thanks to its 2.0Ah battery.
The cordless design also gives you more freedom than traditional chainsaws as there is no need to worry about cutting through cables, finding extension leads or filling the chainsaw with petrol. This also means that there are no harmful emissions.
Safety
The chainsaw has a lock off safety switch whereby two switches must be pressed at the same time to start a tool that removes any chance of an accidental start. The chainsaw is also fitted with an anti-kickback chain for added safety.
The primary handle also has an over-molded, rubber, non-slip grip, whilst the secondary handle is clearly separated from the primary handle to make the chainsaw more comfortable to use. It is positioned to allow clear visibility of the chain whilst cutting.
